Thanksgiving Time

BIG MOUTHS, hehehehe. Clancey and Wes couldn't wait to get their hands on the Turkey Legs.
We went to eat at Aunt Goldie and Uncle Claytons (Dickies Sisters') where we joined Brother Clyde and his family, Gramma McBride, Kimmie, Taylor ,Ricky, The other McBrides and us. Everyone enjoyed their Rummy Games and then we celebrated Grammas 70th Birthday. It was alot of fun Ricky played his guitar and entertained us.
We had Breakfast the day after with my family at Safire. I hadn't been there in like forever. The food was great and the company perty good too. Clancey insisted we get the Lights up before he went back to school. Talk about dedicated or crazy in less that 2 days we are totally Decked out in the Christmas Light Action. Thanksgiving weekend was a bunch of fun. We ended it with the 3rd Ward Annual Christmas Breakfast. Wes put together a Video "Luke II with the song A Breath of Heaven" totally amazing , the kids got to see SANTA (he seemed a bit familiar to me) what great way to kick off the Holiday Season.

NOVEMBER- Branding Time

Yes, we know we do things a bit backwards here at the One Acre Ranch. But you see, if your heifers calve out in August-September, you brand in late Ocotber or November and then you have roping steers/heifers to rope in May. Any how, that is our plan. Seems to have worked so far. Mylea does not like the Branding part. But she understands that now no one can steal them with the / A \ Brand on them. Now we areready for the Spring, as far as the roping goes.

Little Gym Halloween

We traveled to watch Clancey's last Soccer game in the Valley. He had to work at the Little Gym Halloween Party and invited Mylea to go with him. She went as as an R.V.Cheerleader and Clancey as
an RV Elk Basketball player. What party that was, kids tumbling everywhere. Cookies, candies, games and prizes. GREAT job Holly and Matt. We had a fun time and it was really good to see your mom!

It's Spooky time again. Mylea carved 2 pumpkins this year. Sister Crowther gave her one and her dad brought one home. It was alot of fun. She had fun designing the faces and carving them.

THAT DAMN Clancey!

Merr had HAND Surgery in

September, That Damn Clancey took some really BAD photos at the Panda Express in Scottsdale before Dickie drove me home...............ya think your kids like you HAHAHA. Mylea took these photos and they are not much better that Clancey's.........just glad it is over and hope to get to start riding and rope few before the snow flies! Dr. Fitzmaurice and the nurses were sorta shocked when I was able to answer all the questions "NO".......like Do you Smoke? Drink ? etc. Sorta makes you appreciative for the way you were raised. I am regaining strength everyday and even helped get the cows and calves moved back to the State Lease and unload the panels on Monday (I used my arms ....I swear) So life is good once again to ole' R.V.

SOCCER TIME

With FALL comes Soccer Season , Clancey at MCC and Mylea with the Sting Rays of RV. Myleas team was undeafeated this year as she scored 12 goals for the Season.
She was the oldest on her team............next year she'll be the youngest and start all over. Clancey on the other hand, still flipping around has 2 Goals thus far and 4 assists 2 of them on the Flip Throw-In They have not won too many games this year, but he really likes his coach and says the team is waay more unified. Dickie and I have spent the last 6 Saturdays along with Wes and Amanda at one Soccer field or another! Wes and Amanda's dog LUNA entertained the kids at the 1/2 times fetching the ball. Some games there were 1/2 a dozen kids sitting with us hoping to get a chance to throw the ball for Luna..............yes, we know LUNA you loved every minute of it!

Mylea TURNS 8

Mylea's Baptism was a little bit different that the boys. She had helped her dad and Steve Udall gather our Bull loaned to the Udalls back in August. Steve made the mistake of asking her how old she was .........and well he got the whole I'm turning 8 in 2008 Baptism Speech. Steve told her that some of his grandkids had been baptized in his pond. That did it. The next thing I knew, we were planning a "Pond Baptism" The day of the Baptism, it rained all morning, during church, and after, we wondered if the would really happen and then abour 2:00 it stopped, we drove out to the pond, set up the chairs. People started coming and the sun broke through the clouds. It was truly beautiful ! There were mares and colts turned out on a hill close by and calves in the field beside the pond. As the baptism started, the horses came to the edge of the cliff and the calves came to get a drink in the pond. Everything was so clean and pretty from the rain..................what a great memory. Thanks Mylea for trying something so unique!

Labor Day Weekend -

Labor Day brought a lot of crazy FUN. Mylea's Last Rodeo of the Summer. We were afraid Leaf Getter might not perform well for Mylea as she got in the barn and helped herself and her side kick Jigsaw to about a 1/4 sack of Sweet Feed. Off to the Vet! Dr. Pew in St. Johns tubed Leaf Getter and Jigsaw and we took them home watching them close for 2-3 days. The Labor day Rodeo was 12 days from the incident. Leaf Getter, with a few prayers and tender loving care by Mylea, ran her best of the Season. Cinching things up winning the Barrel Racing Buckle, the Pole Bending Buckle 4th in the Goat Ribbon Pull and the All-Around Cowgirl Title for the 2008 Season. For a little girl that would'nt even trot last summer, she had a Smokin' 2008 Season. We are really proud of her............and yes you too Leaf Getter.

Pioneer Days in St Johns, AZ.

We took Mylea to the Jr Rodeo in St. Johns on Thursday. What a crazy day. Mylea had a super fun Day, she and Leaf Getter won 4th in the Barrel Race with the time of 20.68 and 2nd in the Pole Bending with a time of 28.02. Both times are her personal BEST! They really stepped up as a team and all their hard practice at home paid off. It was really hot and between events we shed our shoes and socks to cool off a bit. What memories I have from this Rodeo , some good and some not so good. Dickie and I visited with lots of old friends that we competed against when we were 1st married. It was great to see them and their families still carrying on the tradiition of "Rodeo" for the Pioneer Day Celebration.

Dickie's Birthday

We celebrated Dickies Birthday in the middle of the 4th of July celebration at the fireworks. We drove up past Larry's house and out past Coyote as far as we could parked the truck, got out the lawn chairs, cranked up the Lantern, ate cake, sang, watched the Fireworks, and then tried to take a special Birthday party photo. As you can see some of us are having a better time than others. We ended the Fun weekend at a roping in Pinetop. Clancey roped well but missed his 3rd steer to win the roping., what bummer!......can't win'em all. It rained and rained some of us went bowling and some of us stayed, heck we were wet anyhow! What a great Holiday!

What a Day................

What a GREAT DAY this turned out to be. Dickie decided a while back that he might want to go to this roping. We had seen the posters in Buzz's Diner like 2 months ago. Dickie hasn't gone to a roping in like forever. Seems like there were always other place for the extra bucks to go! Like Dance classes, Missions, Sports Camps and such. So when he wanted to go, I was very excited. Dez, the girls and I drove out to watch for a bit. Dickie headed out early to find a few partners. The Roping was called " Benefit for a Childs Benefit." sorts like St. Judes is what we understood.................You paid cash to enter, but if you placed you would be received prizes and no cash back. Dickie met up with some of his friends there from Duncan and entered with 3 partners Buddy, Richard and Jana. He roped great and ended up winning 1st and 7th place giving him enough points to win a Team Roping Saddle. But.... it got even better . Mylea entered the 6-8 Dummy Roping against the boys and placed 1st and won a Buckle. It was all very exciting................what a day! I was very proud of both of them!

A bit of Roping

Look who showed up this Memorial Day weekend. Clancey and Kody from College for a bit of a break. The boys play for MCC. They start their Soccer and Football Seasons back up in July.

Somethings you just don't forget. The boys had to rope a few after the Rodeo on Memorial Day.
We were glad to see them and have them home for awhile. Guess I better go grocery shopping! hehehe

Memorial Day

We all enjoyed ourselves at the 1st Rodeo of the Summer this past Memorial Day. Fun was had by all. Checkout ole' Leaf Getter, she and Mylea mean business making a turn around barrel number one. They placed 3rd in the Pee Wee Barrel Race.

softball time

Mylea has a great time playing softball. She plays second base and catcher. She is very excited about getting to the games and trying to hit the ball. She hit a triple a few nights ago and was so excited I was afraid that she might do a cartwheel! Her team is the Athletics, but the girls wanted to be called the Jumpin' Frogs, so Aunt Dez made them all T- shirts and put frogs and their numbers down the sleeves . They are super cool! Just ask one of the Jumpin' Frogs.

Life is good in ole' R.V. , Dickie and I are not sure we are cut out for a Blog, but Mylea thinks we are. So don't expect much. But we'll give 'er a whirl. Our Summer so far has been filled with sun, fun, little league baseball and softball, lots of B.Q.'s and some Roping and Rodeoing on the side. It has been great having Wes and Amanda able to back in the community. They are doing great and enjoying their new home and added a member to their family (nope not grandparents yet) a black Lab dog, WOW is he big! We are looking forward to having Clancey home for the next 3 weeks. He is taking break from MCC Soccer and between jobs. He thinks he needs a break and some cash money and we think a little reality check might be good too. Mylea is happy that both her brothers will be here take her places and stuff (her words) Off into June, and wrapping up Mylea Sofball Season, we wil be spending alot of time at the Arena. So with any luck at all, we'll post some pictures as soon Dickie and I get our next lesson on blogging from our very own Blogging Extraordinare "Wes"
